Homemade Mickey Mouse Rope Basket

Mickey Mouse crafts are a lot of fun for kids and adults alike, but sometimes the cost can be prohibitive. If you’re looking to have some family craft time without breaking the bank, try making this simple Mickey Mouse rope basket made out of just a few dollar store supplies!

Supplies needed:

  • 2 Dollar Tree Nautical Jute Rope, 8 foot
  • Hot Glue Sticks
  • Ruler or tape measure

This is a really fun project that doesn’t take much time and can be done with some basic supplies. In this tutorial, I will show you how to make one step by step!

Measure out a 6-foot piece of rope and two 12-inch pieces of jute then cut them.

Begin by leaning the rope against a wall or something else stable; extend it about six feet. Next, apply a line of hot glue to where you want your first circle and roll/curl the rope around itself until you have made the first circle about three inches in diameter. Keep going, adding more circles with hot glue until finished!

Next, add a second layer of rope to the bottom of your Mickey Mouse shape. Then, put some glue on the underside and attach it upwards to complete your basket. Once you have gone one time around, move up to the next layer. The resulting triangle should go around completely about three times.

When you have reached the end or the desired height, trim the end at a slant and glue down. Then allow the hot glue to dry and place your new Mickey Mouse rope basket out for display!
