Tips

Here are a few quick tips to make your DIY Sunflower Pumpkin Wreath even easier:

  • Pre-Cut Everything – Before you start gluing, cut all your burlap and flowers. Having everything ready to go makes the process smoother and helps you avoid interruptions once the glue gun is heated up.
  • Use a Thinner Glue Line – When applying hot glue to the wreath form, a thin line works best. Too much glue can make the burlap bulky and harder to wrap evenly.
  • Work in Small Sections – When attaching the burlap to the wreath form, glue a small section at a time. This keeps the glue from drying too quickly and gives you more control while wrapping.
  • Fluff Your Flowers – After adding the sunflowers to the wreath, fluff and arrange the petals for a fuller, more natural look. This little step can really make your wreath pop!
  • Don’t Rush the Stem – When folding and securing the burlap for the stem, take your time. Adding extra glue for a solid hold ensures the stem won’t come loose over time.

Create a beautiful, budget-friendly Dollar Tree Sunflower Pumpkin Wreath to add a touch of fall to your home. With just a few simple supplies and easy steps, you can make a vibrant, seasonal wreath that’s perfect for decorating your front door or any space indoors.

Materials

  • Dollar Tree Pumpkin Wreath Form
  • Burlap fabric
  • 10 Bushels of orange sunflowers

Tools

  • Hot Glue Gun/ glue sticks
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Flip your pumpkin wreath form over and lay the burlap fabric on the back side of the form. You’ll be wrapping the fabric around the entire form. Test it by loosely wrapping it around to check the fit, and then use scissors to trim any excess fabric
  2. Apply hot glue in small sections along the wreath form. As you apply glue, pull the burlap fabric tightly over the form to secure it in place. Continue gluing and wrapping the burlap until the entire form is covered. You can trim any extra fabric, but don’t worry if it’s not perfect—it won’t be visible once the wreath is finished.
  3. Set aside a small piece of burlap (about 3x4 inches) to use for creating the pumpkin stem later.
  4. To attach the flowers, use wire cutters to trim the stems, leaving about 1 to 1.5 inches of stem attached to each flower. (Note: Initially, I tried removing the flower heads from the stems and hot gluing them directly to the burlap, but they didn’t stay in place because they needed the stem for stability.)
  5. Add hot glue to the base of the flower and push the stem through the burlap fabric, threading it through one of the gaps in the fabric. Press the glued area firmly against the burlap to secure the flower. Repeat this process with all the flowers until the entire pumpkin is covered. You’ll need about 10 bushels of sunflowers to cover the wreath completely.
  6. For the stem, take the leftover piece of burlap you set aside earlier. Fold it over so it isn’t see-through and place it at the top of the pumpkin to create the stem. Secure the burlap to the wire with a dab of hot glue. Fold the edges of the burlap over and glue them down to hold the stem in place.
  7. Finally, add a decorative touch by attaching a leaf from the flowers to the stem using hot glue. This gives your wreath a finished look!

Notes

Burlap Wrapping Tip: Make sure to pull the burlap tight as you wrap it around the wreath form. This helps the fabric lay smoothly and keeps it from bunching up.

Flower Placement: When placing the flowers, start from the edges and work your way inward to ensure even coverage and a balanced look.

Alternative Materials: If you can’t find sunflowers, you can substitute with other seasonal flowers, or mix in some fall leaves for extra texture and color.

Wreath Hanging: If you plan to hang the wreath outside, consider spraying it with a protective clear coat to help protect the flowers and fabric from the elements.
